Vampire Awakening (This is what I think of it)

Vampire Awakening

Inside me demons wake from their sleep,
The pain they cause me makes me weep.
Trying hard not to let my evil free,
But it's to late I'm becoming who I was meant to be.

I've spent my whole life running from this,
Living it in ignorance bliss.
Believing that I had out run what I was to become,
This fantasy life I've built will soon be undone.

I lay here still alive but half dead,
My soul is gone, but I can hear the slow echoes of my heart beat in my head.
My skin is cold yet I'm soaked in sweat,
It's hard to believe that a bite started all of this on the neck.

Heightened sinces and an unquenchable thirst,
A whisper in the wind sounds like a loud screeching voice.
I no longer hear the beats of my heart,
My veins don't flourish with any blood, but are dry and parched.

I can't remember my own past name,
But can only think of this thirst I must contain.
I slip into the world of living as a walking corpse,
Looking for an unsuspecting who has committed multiple torts.

I've forgotten the life I once had,
Wondering if I had been good or bad.
But for me to have to go through all of this,
I must have been a terrible person without any bliss.

I try my best to remember the people that I once loved,
So that I can watch in protect them in their lives above.
But I can't find anything in the darkness of a dead mind,
This curse has forced me to leave everything behind.

Alone and afraid I still walk the dark streets,
Looking for forgotten memory's that I'm desperate to retrieve.
It hasn't been long since my first feed,
But newly awaken my body craves the blood that it needs.

I can smell the sweet scent of a bloody scratch,
The wind wafts it owner's homeless drunken scent from his alcohol batch.
A pathetic bum that no one will miss,
Will conquer my thirst with one bloody kiss.

I can hear a small voice from my forgotten past,
Begging me to stop and not make this night his last.
But the hunger is much stronger than just a small voice,
No matter what I chose tonight I will make the wrong choice.

I chose to listen to the small still voice inside my head,
Passing up to drink the liquid that is dark and red.
Instead I fall into a deep sleep,
Where in my dreams the angel of death and I will meet.
